Dan Mazur is a singer, songwriter, guitar player, music teacher, band leader and performer based out of Metro Detroit.  Making the decision to go full time as a musician in 2009, Dan has played over 1,400 shows and passed the 200 gig mark every year since.  Playing to audiences ranging from a handful of people in a corner bar, to weddings, corporate events, headline spots at festivals and everything in between, Dan has put in the work needed to carve out a unique place in the Metro Detroit music scene while creating a high demand for his performances.

Dan has studied music extensively over the years taking private instruction with some of the best teachers available including:  John Hall, Rob Bourassa, Brian Roberts, Lee Dyanment, and Waldon Reed Jr.  In addition to many years of private study, Dan has also earned an associates degree in music from Henry Ford Community College, and studied in the world renowned music department at Wayne State University in Detroit.  Studying classical guitar, plus Theory & Composition at Wayne State, coupled together with Dan’s rigorous performance schedule over the last 9 years have provided both the education, and real life gigging experience needed to make it in the world as a professional musician.

You can find Dan performing in a variety of different settings including, but not limited to solo acoustic, with The Phoenix Theory, with various duo partners, or occasionally as an instrumentalist.

On top of writing and recording songs, managing and promoting his own career, and keeping together an extensive performance schedule, Dan also stays busy during the day teaching private music lessons.  Specializing in guitar lessons and songwriting, Dan gives beginner through advanced private one-on-one instruction.  He also offers beginner piano lessons.  As a kid, private lessons were Dan’s major source of musical education.  Knowing the sparks it started for him at a young age, he decided to start teaching privately in 2012 in hopes of being that teacher who can help inspire someone else the way his early teachers inspired him.

Please feel free to contact Dan if you have any questions about performances, lessons, original music licensing, or any other general music inquiries!

It’s a humbling experience and a true honor for Dan to take on the role of lead guitarist and vocalist in The Phoenix Theory, and he is very excited for the opportunity to play with three of Metro Detroit’s most dynamic and talented musicians!
